In ancient times, in the kingdom of the Upper Zeya Plain, there lived a girl Deya, whose Evenki name "Zeya" is translated as "Mother". The beautiful and hardworking Zeya grew up in a family of hunters and was famous for her masterful skills. When she was 17, she met the hero Amur at the Bakaldyn festival, and love blossomed between them.

However, her parents and shamans opposed their union, because they wanted to give Zeya to an old reindeer herder. The lovers tried to escape several times, but were returned each time. In the end, the shamans decided to punish them by turning them into rivers and dividing them with high mountain ranges.

Zeya's bitter tears formed the Upper Zeya Lake between the Tukuringra and Soktakhan mountains. Over time, her crying cut through the southern ridge, and the Zeya River rushed to her beloved Amur, turning into a turbulent river. Their union is immortalized in the symbolic names Amur-Father and Enin-Mother.

Over time, people blocked the Zeya with a hydroelectric dam, but its waters continue to flow to the Amur, giving light and warmth. The shores of the former lake are now home to Golden Sands, where people enjoy relaxing and fishing.
